Vetapalam, 8 km from Chirala is in #Prakasam district of #Andhra Pradesh. In 1785/86, a German-Dutch traveler, Jacob Haafner, employee of the Dutch East India Company, passed Vetapalem and found it one of the best places to live in India.  Was called Mrugayapuri in ancient days.

Known for hand loom, cashew nuts, aqua culture etc, is also famous for the family maintained research oriented library, Vetapalem Saraswata Niketanam.
