VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Welcome to GTV!
Today I'll be showing you Namco's Rotatable Cylindicator Series Inductive Proximity Sensors.
Namco's Cylindicator has a weld field and electrical noise immunity with a 3000 PSI pressure rating. The models come standard with a latching short circuit protection and are also available in non-latching with the DC models. According to the manufacturer, the cylindicators give predictable, consistent electrical performance and are 100 percent tested and burned in.
For proper operation of Namco's cylindicator, certain factors should be taken into consideration. First is to make sure that the sensing target is a ferrous metal. Other metals may need different sensing ranges. The next factor is the establishment of a proper air gap between the probe face and the target. The air gap is the actual distance between the tip of the probe and the part of the piston which is the target. The target can be the collar or cushion sleeve, cushion spear, or the end of the rod inside the cylinder. The optimal air gap should be greater than .015 inches and less than .045 inches, including worst case tolerances.
Another factor is assuring that there is a minimum step distance between the cushion collar and the piston rod. The standard cylindicators of this series have a nominal sensing range of .08 inches beyond the stated probe length. The minimum step distance must be greater than .095 inches to guarantee that the sensors will drop out when the target is no longer present. This minimum step distance accounts for mechanical tolerances, temperature effects, and hysteresis effects.
