The slate mines of Nuttlar have a combined length of approx 20 km in 5 levels. The two flooded lower levels have a total length of 12 km, while less than a half of them is surveyed. However, the recreational divers are only allowed in the shallow caverns with the maximum depth of 10 m, where surfacing is always possible in case of emergency.
