Our first son was born five weeks after we walked down the aisle. We were only 22 years old, unexpectedly pregnant, and about to graduate from college. Our families were worried, and I don't think anyone expected it to work out. That's because 90% of "shotgun" weddings like ours end in divorce within the first six years. In addition, couples who are between the ages of 20-25 when they are married are 60% likely to get divorced. To make things especially interesting, we had twins two years after we were married. Having multiples increases the likelihood of divorce by another 17%. So basically, we were 23,986% likely to be divorced by the time we were 30. Here we are, universe -- defying your odds every day! Married in July 2004, our first baby born in September 2004, college graduation together in December 2004, twins born in March 2007, our first home in August 2007, trips to Nevada, Wisconsin, Utah, California, kids starting school, kids playing sports, birthdays with Spongebob, Halloweens with skunks, backyard football, water fights, corn mazes, tiniest fish release ever, Super Mario Bros, music and more... we've had a busy and wonderful life together. Happy anniversary, Andy. Here's to all the years to come. ---------------------------------------- UPDATE IN 2020: Almost 16 years! Good thing we like each other or we'd be having a very miserable coronavirus quarantine. The kids on the other hand... well, they're driving us crazy. ---------------------------------------- Music: "Let Me In" by Grouplove/Canvasback, Atlantic records "The Story" by Brandi Carlile/Columbia Records "That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding/Goldwax Records DISCLAIMER: No copyright infringement intended.
