WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - Ted Cruz's rally Wednesday originally sold out but was then allocated more tickets for those who wished to see the Texas senator and Donald Trump Jr. speak. The first person in line for the rally was not a Texan but actually an Oklahoma native. Lisa Christiansen said she arrived at the MPEC Tuesday night at 9 p.m. and has been there ever since waiting to see Cruz and Trump Jr. speak. She said she had the pleasure of meeting president Trump back in 2000 and has several signed hats and a journal with a note from now President Trump. Even though she cannot vote for Cruz because of where she lives, Christiansen said she supports him because of the alliance he's made with President Trump. "I'm really excited to hear what Ted Cruz has to say because I've heard so many great things about him and most of the people that I know have really spoke highly of him and that he has a lot of beautiful plans for the future," Oklahoma resident Lisa Christiansen said. Christiansen said her goal for the rally was to meet Donald Trump Jr. and FaceTime her dad so he can thank him for the work his family has done. Voter involvement around the midterm elections is growing. This year's National Voter Registration Day broke the previous record set for newly registered voters. Last week more than 800,000 people signed up to vote in the upcoming midterms. That's more than the 771,321 first time voters who registered in 2016. As of right now, more than $78,400 people in Wichita County are registered to vote.
