Here is the complete recording and mixing process of the tune “I Can Make it Thru The Day (But oh those lonely nights)”. Timings listed below. This session pertains to my video of the tune, here:

BASS GUITAR
2:25 Bass part – the first live take – TAKE 1 (not used), followed by discussion

STRINGS

Three violin parts were recorded, differing harmony parts, but sometimes unison

2:35:00 Lead Vocal TAKE 5 – someone is singing into the wrong side of the mic
2:35:30 Lead Vocal TAKE 6 – abandoned 2:37:18 – strings very high in the mix!
2:38:50 Lead Vocal TAKE 7 – abandoned 2:40:20 – verse by verse? Or not…?
2:41:00 Lead Vocal TAKE 7, 2nd verse, abandoned 2:41:21
2:41:50 Lead Vocal TAKE 7, 2nd Verse TAKE 2 – confusing number system? Verse 3 also recorded! Ends at 2:44:08
2:45:00 Lead Vocal TAKE 8, 2nd verse, abandoned 2:45:30

I’ve got an idea – why don’t I do a complete vocal take?

2:45:17 Lead Vocal TAKE 9 – brief errors at start, but camera left rolling, so that’s take 10,11 and then 12: it’s easy to see how bands and musicians are left shell-shocked by the end of the session.

2:46:40 Lead Vocal TAKE 13, abandoned after a few seconds – out of tune.
2:47:04 Lead Vocal TAKE 14 – the FINAL one! (ends at 2:50:25). Discussion afterwards
