In Barbados, the National Council Foundation (NCF) will stage a Cultural Industries Symposium designed to serve as a catalyst to exploit this vast sector. However as a direct result of a greater awareness of the potential of the creative sector and on the imminent passing of the Cultural Industries bill by the Barbados Parliament, the NCF has worked closely with industry players to reposition its Cultural Industries Symposium.  Toon Boom's mission for the region of stimulating and facilitating the Caribbean as the next animation hub was therefore timely and provided the framework to drive the inclusion of an animation competition within the symposium together with attracting world renowned Story-boarder, Mark Simon to conduct a one day workshop as one of the highlights of the Symposium.  Interest from new animation studios in Barbados and young people involved in animation has been swift. With the tremendous interest it is expected that the workshop will be fully subscribed. Toon Boom's VP of Business Development & Sales Francois Lalonde did the networking to ensure Mark's participation and has generally served as a mentor to "e-Create BARBADOS -- The 2013 Cultural Industries Symposium" taking place from April 9th to 12th, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre in Barbados.
