Stanley & Company with Mike Booth singing "The Old Country Church" at the Pine Mountain Community Center on February 25, 2012. Gently nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is a quaint little two-room schoolhouse. Outside stand old oak trees that shaded the grounds where generations of children once played marbles, jumped rope, and frolicked in homemade flour-sack clothing. Years back many little community schools fell silent as larger, more efficient centralized schools were built. So it was with the schoolhouse on Pine Mountain. But now new sounds fill the air. Every fourth Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. jammers tune up their instruments and fill the shaded areas and play bluegrass music. At 3:00 p.m. jammers form groups and take advantage of the open stage. Pine Mountain Bluegrass, the in-house band, is the host band each month taking the stage at 6:00 p.m. The feature band follows at 7:00 p.m. culminating a wonderful day of Mountain Bluegrass Music.
