Host Marcia Alvar Speaks with Tetsuden Kashima, Associate Professor of American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington. One of his many areas of study is the relocation of Japanese and Japanese-American citizens which occurred on the West Coast during World War II. The near-hysteria that gripped the country has been described as a period "when racial prejudice and fear upset the delicate balance between the rights of the citizen and the power of the state." The University of Washington is committed to ensuring digital accessibility in our services, programs, and activities.
