After looking at JSano's clear video of this puzzle, it appears I did things somewhat differently. I brought a POW up to the top of the level instead of a shell. I didn't use the koopaling at all. The strat I used was kind of inconsistent. You had to throw the shell with a high enough speed in order to get it into the gap to hit the POW. The intended solution shown by JSano was much easier, but this was the first solution that I discovered that worked, so I went with it.
