Health care, immigration and Trump are key issues

(6 Nov 2018) Voters in North Carolina and Georgia turned out to cast ballots in an election that will determine control of Congress and render a verdict on President Donald Trump's tenure. In Raleigh North Carolina, 19-year-old Melvin Rubi Avila said he voted for Democrats today because of President Trump's hard line toward immigrants like his parents. Avila was voting in his first national election. He cast his ballot at a community park in the state capital of Raleigh. As a so-called "birthright citizen," Avila saw Trump's recent attacks on the 14th amendment as a personal affront. In Wake Forest, Diana Zambrano, also the child of immigrants, said she doesn't agree with people circumventing the immigration system The regiestered independent said she voted for her beliefs in spite of the president's rhetoric. In Decatur, Georgia, a sprawling city adjacent to Atlanta, some voters said they were voting against President Trump, and believe that healthcare and the nation's political culture needs to be averted. For many voters this election day, healthcare, immigration and still on the minds of some the #MeToo movement, were issues front and center.
