When a young man goes to sea a lot, he treats his time off like a wild man in most cases. Just imagine you finish your work, and there is nothing to do in the middle of the ocean. No night clubs, no bars, so single ladies to chase after. Every day that you do not get to play, builds up the anticipation on how you are going to let loose in the first port you hit. Sailing on a Navy ship is amazing, but for a young sailor it takes time to adjust.
