Goa Chief Information Commissioner has held that office of Governor- Raj Bhavan comes under RTI. CIC in its order has directed Raj Bhavan to appoint a Public Information Officer. Activist Adv. Aires Rodrigues has approached CIC, after Raj Bhavan refused to supply him any information, sought under RTI. Goa State Chief Information Commissioner has allowed the complaint filed activist Adv. Aires Rodrigues over the non-compliance of the Right to Information Act by the Goa Raj Bhavan. CIC in his order delivered on Monday directed the office of Governor of Goa- Raj Bhavan to appoint a Public Information Officer. CIC has also ordered the Raj Bhavan to make the mandatory disclosures mandated under RTI Act. Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his application before CIC had drawn the attention of the Goa State Information Commission that the Goa Raj Bhavan despite being a “Public authority’ in terms of the RTI Act, had not appointed a Public Information Officer for general public to be able to seek information.
