What is on offer now, in terms of economic empowerment and therefore self-determination, often comes at the cost of sacrificing indigenous cultures. I liken this to our loss of bio-diversity. In many cases we don’t appreciate what we’re losing until it’s too late. To empower indigenous cultures you need to go to where they are; physically, mentally and spiritually.

"Madadh MacLaine is an adventurer, activist and social entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Fair Winds Trading Company and Fair Winds Trust whose objective is to create economic equality and sustain biodiversity through fair trade and transport. 

Madadh is also founder and member of the Executive committee of the International Windships Association; promoting the use of wind in commercial shipping".
