As you move away from vegetation and shorelines, and fish more open water you want to
locate bass that are suspended and the best way to reach those fish is by using crankbaits. By using a stop-and-go retrieve like this medium running crankbaits or by using lures that will go deeper than that. Crankbaits can be fish very quickly and work very well for both small mouth bass and largemouth bass.
