About Narendra Modi

The evening of 26th May 2014 as Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India after a historic mandate from the people of India.

Modi played a significant role in the BJP's 2009 general-election campaign. Modi was a candidate in two constituencies Varanasi and Vadodara. The BJP-led NDA won the general election overall and the INC experienced it’s worst-ever defeat.

Modi used Twitter, Facebook, Google Hangouts and holographic projections for campaign appearances. His victory tweet was the most re-tweeted tweet in India.
Narendra Damodardas Modi born 17 September 1950 is the 14th  Prime Minister of India.

Born in a poor family in Mehsana, he sold tea in trains as a boy. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and became a pracharak. He entered the BJP in 1987 and became the national secretary of the party in 1998.

In 2001, he was made the chief minister of Gujarat and in 2013, was made the BJP's PM candidate. He was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat and ruled the state from 2001 to 2014. 

In 2014, Lok Sabha elections, Modi contested from Vadodara and Varanasi and won both the seats.

His focus on development, eye for detail and efforts to bring a qualitative difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor have made Narendra Modi a popular and respected leader across India.

Achievement of Narendra Modi

1) Narendra Modi started a monthly radio program titled Mann ki Baat on 3 October 2014. 
2) Narendra Modi government repealed 1,159 obsolete laws in first two years as compared to 1,301 laws in 63 years.
3) Forbes Magazine ranked him the 15th-most-powerful person in the world in 2014 and the 9th-most-powerful person in the world in 2015.
4) In 2016, Narendra Modi statue featured in the Madame Tussauds wax museum at London alongside other world leaders such as Barack Obama, David Cameron and Angela Merkel.
5) Narendra Modi’s clarion call for marking one day as International Day of Yoga received an overwhelming response at the UN. In a first, a total of 177 Nations across the world came together and passed the resolution to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga at the UN.
