In this video, we go over damage shields in-depth. Damage shields are important tools for survival for many players in the game, so it pays to know how they work! Damage shields can be roughly split into 2 categories since Murkmire. The first are shields with hard caps; these are caps that cannot be changed no matter what. Only 2 skills fall under this category: Annulment and Conjured Ward. These 2 skills also calculate the size of your damage shield based on your Max Magicka, rather than your Max Health. The second are shields with soft caps; while they may have a limit in their flavor text, you can increase this limit by investing in the Bastion Champion Point passive under The Lord constellation. Damage shields can be stacked on each other for greater effect, though you do lose a skill slot this way. They also inherit all resistances from your character. They can be crit if you are playing against players. In PvP areas, Battle Spirit will cut your damage shield size in half. For Annulment and Conjured Ward, this reduction is calculated before the 40/50 percent cap is applied.
