Egypt's ministry of electricity, with support from China has launched a new transformer plant in the Gulf of Suez. Minister of Electricity, Dr. Mohamed El-Merghaby, governor of the Gulf of Suez, Ahmed Hamed and China's commercial counselor to Egypt, Han Bing officiated the event. The plant is a milestone in China's Belt and Road initiative. The high voltage transformer plant is the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, producing up to 500 kilo-volts.
