Originally published December 24, 2014 Seven people were killed on Wednesday afternoon in northern Colombia when a plane crashed after suffering engine trouble. The plane, a Cessna 207 operated by Alas de Colombia, took off at 2.27pm with six passengers and the pilot on board. The aircraft was heading from the town of Bucaramanga, around 250 miles northeast of Bogota, to Malaga in Santander province when the pilot radioed the control tower about a loss of engine oil pressure and that he was returning to the airport. The plane crashed shortly afterwards in scrubland near a small village. All seven people on board were killed. Search teams found the wreckage on a steep hillside and used a helicopter to recover the bodies.
