Siren: Whelen 4004 w/ UV Controls, 2 RPM, 679 Hz
Town: Geneva, OH (Perry Nuclear siren A9)
Location: Route 534 and I-90
Test Time: 2nd Wednesday 11 AM in January, April, July, and October
Cycle: 3 minutes of alert

Other notes: While, Calvin, Noie, and Burns were all foaming over Noxes, I got a little ballsy tried this 4004 just south of Geneva. Yes, believe it or not, there is still an active Whelen in the Perry system. I was unsure for a little while since pretty all the other Whelens are gone now, but I tried it, and scored pretty big. That crackling you hear after the wind up and during the wind down was coming from the siren itself. This'll probably be replaced within the next year or so.

I have the entire Perry system mapped out now, and there are now at most 4 Whelens left. This 4004 is obviously active, one of the 2016s is still left at the plant, there's another 2016 southeast of Concord that's still active as of July, and there's a 2008 just southwest of here that was still up in 2015, but is most likely replaced now.

My original plan was to record the 2016 just east of the plant as that was still standing in July, but I decided to check the 2016s that were still mapped in the northern part of the county to see if they were replaced, and I wanted to check this 4004 and another 2008 that was immediately south of this one, and everything but the 4004 was gone and with little time left, I decided to stick at this one instead. I'm glad I did though, as the 2016 that I was going to film was replaced very recently.
