It's not all grim when it come to the grim reaper! This talk is designed to get folks thinking about making some peace with the inevitable-especially when they're young, healthy, and it's the lasts thing on their minds.
The goal? Listener will leave thinking of death as more of a friend rather than a spooky stranger-which helps not only each of us, but our loved ones as well (not to mention our culture and planet). And since we can "use death as our adviser," it might offer a few nuggets on living our best and brightest life too. Laura Pritchett is a mere mortal who will someday die—and has made peace with that. Her most recent book is Making Friends with Death: A Field Guide to Your Impending Last Breath, a guided journal meant for everyone (even the young and healthy!) who’d like to face the inevitable with grace and spunky steadiness. She’s also the author of eight other books, including Hell’s Bottom, Colorado, Sky Bridge, Stars Go Blue, Red Lightning, and The Blue Hour. Her novels have received starred reviews from Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, and School Library Journal, and The Blue Hour was listed as one of the “Top 5 books that will make you think about what it is to be human” by PBS and made the Booklist Editor’s Choice for 2017.
She is now at work on her first play, Dirt: A Terra Nova Expedition, premiering at Bas Bleu Theatre in Fort Collins in April. Pritchett received two degrees from CSU and holds a PhD from Purdue University.
