WASA customers with illegal water connections are being given a chance to regularise their status. The Water and Sewerage Authority has launched an Amnesty Programme that will run for three months from Monday December 3rd 2018 to Thursday February 28th 2019. WASA says this will allow customers the opportunity to regularise their status and avoid disconnection, penalties and the possibility of legal action. The Amnesty will apply specifically to people with illegal connections, customers with unregistered swimming pools, and customers who have a VAT registered business but are classified as a residential customer. Anyone needing to have their status regularised can visit any of the Authority's Customer Service Centres located throughout Trinidad and Tobago. WASA says persons who fail to take advantage of this Amnesty will face disconnection of their service, as well as the imposition of penalties and any other legal recourse available to the Authority.
