Rod Baker is a scientist and educator who has pursued a life long interest in the forces guiding the development of cultures. In this talk, Rod provides a personal insight into how scientific images function as a formative mythology. In this talk it is seen through the eyes of a scientist who has used the imagery of energy waves and particles to understand a diverse range of life's experiences, ideas, politics, mental health, emotional states, and indigenous Australian identity. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
