On May 20, 2012, former Birmingham, Alabama area students from Mountain Brook HS, Pelham HS, and Oak Mountain HS gathered at the Oak Mountain HS Performing Arts Center to honor beloved and retiring Band DIrector Jim Duren. The Mr. Duren's Opus Band opened their performance with "Salvation Is Created". Mr. Duren retired after 39 years as a music educator but his legacy will continue in the lives of countless students and their children.
