This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. As a polar guide Philip observes how the polar areas are moving today. His passion is to show and share his experience from the climate and his ideas on how every day people can act to create a sustainable world.

In 2002, at the age of 15 years old, Philip was chosen by the World Wide Fund for Nature (the
Netherlands) to sail around Antarctica and talk with local scientists about their work. When he returned to the Netherlands he realized that his passion had been born and the next 15 years after his first polar experience were all related to polar adventures- from a short ski-trekking to the geographic North Pole, to a crossing from the east to west (600km) and South to North (2300km) of the Greenland icecap.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
