The uniform I wore in 2004 when I was deployed to Iraq. This was to support operation Iraqi freedom. That was by far the hardest experience in my life. Being in a war zone was hard enough but being away from my wife, my family, and my friends was really hard. When I was deployed I learned some valuable money lessons. I am going to share the top 6 money lessons that I learned right now: ➡️1. Communication is vital [3:14] - My wife and I talked a lot while I was deployed. This gave us the opportunity to talk about our financial plans. ➡️2. Having clear short-term and long-term goals [5:32] - You should have short and long-term money goals just like you do with personal development and business goals. ➡️3. Don’t ignore life insurance [7:15] - When you have a spouse and children, it is important to have a life insurance policy. If something were to happen to you, your family is protected. ➡️4. There’s always gonna be an excuse not to invest [8:58] - You have access to a laptop, phone, or iPad - and tons of resources to teach you about investing. You don’t have an excuse not to invest. ➡️5. Don’t sacrifice long-term goals for short-term wants [11:00] - If you continuously feel the need to buy the latest phone, laptop, car, etc. you end up losing sight of those long-term goals. ➡️6. Be careful what you complain about [13:57] - There are too many real hardships and dangerous conditions that people in this world have to live in each day for you to complain about small things to don’t really matter. I am grateful for that experience in Iraq. It was hard - but it helped me to develop some great core character values. I am a stronger man due to that deployment. 🤔 I’m curious to know what great money lessons you have learned, like those I learned in Iraq. Which of these money lessons resonated with you the most?
