Q: What is the BC PNP Business Immigrants Business Succession Plan Buy-out?

A: The Business Succession Plan Buy-out is how a company applying for British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program under any of the Business Immigrants categories can buy-out an existing business in the province.
The business must be operated by the same owner for at least 5 years, it needs to have employees that are not family members and has to be actively in operation. It also needs to be located outside of the Vancouver metropolitan area and the Abbotsford metropolitan area.
Applicants who want to buy-out an existing business need to make an exploratory visit and meet the owners and provide evidence that an effort was made in establishing a fair market price for the business.
The result of the buy-out must be the complete takeover of the ownership by the applicant. The applicant also needs to operate the business for at least one year before either they or their key staff are considered for nomination or a Fast Track deposit refund. Applicants that want to buy-out an existing business have their job creation requirements reduced by one for each existing job that will be maintained for Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
