Bloggers and "new media" are welcome at the Republican National Convention next September, but Republicans are not exactly rolling out the welcome mat for protesters.
On Monday, several members of the RNC organizing committee said they want bloggers to attend the RNC. This, as they met with about 500 media representatives from all over the world at the site of next year's convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

More than a thousand media types are expected to cover the RNC. Thousands more are expected to protest outside the Xcel Center during the convention. Those coordinating the protests would like to file for permits now instead of waiting until April as the city of St. Paul requires.

Minnesota's Governor Tim Pawlenty, who is a Republican, was asked if he would intervene for the protesters so they could have time to plan just like the Republicans have time to plan. The Governor couldn't hold back a fleeting wry smile.

"I think six months is plenty of time to plan a protest".

The UpTake's Mike McIntee shows us what the media saw when they came to St. Paul and takes you to the podium so you can see the Xcel center just like the Republican Presidential nominee will.
