Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the government would prioritize oil and gas exploration to support and strengthen the national economy.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Lyallpur Oil Tool Pvt Ltd Service in Dandi Gojran area of Chakri in Rawalpindi he regretted that the exploration was not given preference by the previous governments which led to spending billion of Dollars annually on import of petroleum products.

He pointed out that the country was producing only 15 percent of petroleum products while about 85 percent of petroleum products were being imported.

The minister assured that any project in the petroleum sector would be executed with complete transparency and no compromise will be made on quality.

He said that the government would provide conductive environment and full security to foreign investors.

Sarwar said that ministry would further improve petroleum policy that would be announced soon after completing necessary consultations with the provinces and stakeholders.

He said the ministry had also awarded 10 new blocks for exploration in different oil and gas potential areas through open bidding. He said 10 companies had successful participated in the bidding.

He said the government was working for early completion of Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline (TAPI) project.

The minister also highlighted the historical background of the Taxila and said the ancient city had 100 percent literacy rate.
