This is another homemade muon cloud chamber made with another year's Halloween dry ice run. This year I bought 30lbs of dry ice because it's dry ice and more is better. The muon cloud chamber in this video took minimal supplies found around the home. Materials used: -Cylindrical glass lantern globe -Small Styrofoam lid (insulates dry ice from table surface) -One gallon paint bucket lid (for base) -Elmer's Rubber Cement (to seal the bottom of the chamber) -One pint plastic pain mixing bucket lid (top of chamber) -Felt (attached to bottom of pint lid with rubber cement) -99% isopropyl alcohol -Small ceramic bowl (filled with warm water) -Small Maglite flashlight with halogen bulb ***(very important DO NOT USE LEDs because they are too bright. The intense blue spectrum of light emitted by these flashlight LEDs doesn't illuminate the alcohol vapor--I've tried and warned you) -Helping hand (yes, a soldering tool "helping hand" with alligator clips. I just used that to hold the flashlight. It allowed me to position the light for the best angle)
