This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Mark Noble, an Exercise Physiologist & Human- Performance- Enhancement-Specialist, will demonstrate technology that has the potential to benefit people of all ages by merging the genius of two innovative technologies. Noble honed his skills at Texas A&M University under Coach Emil Mammaliga, and later as Head-Speed & Strength Coach at the U.S. Military Academy with famed Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Over the 18 years they worked together, Krzyzewski and Noble saw many of the athletes they mentored– in football, soccer, golf, softball, volleyball, baseball, handball and figure skating–achieve National Championships and Olympic status. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Noble says the inspiration derived from working with athletes and now with young and old who wish to improve their health and well-being inspired him to found the Human Performance Lab at UA Huntsville. “Through this new technology,” says Noble, we have the opportunity to improve lives from cradle- to- the-grave. Mark Noble has been developing his proprietary method of sports performance enhancement since 1980 when he began his career as the Head Speed and Strength Coach at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Since then he has served as Sports Ambassador to Mexico with the US Department of State, Director of Exercise Physiology at Marshall Space Flight Center with NASA, Sports Science Consultant to both the US Figure Skating Association in the Winter Olympics and USA Team Handball for the Summer Olympic Games. Mark was taught film analysis and received his training in biomechanics at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Mark served in a similar role to his Olympic team assistance with the Duke University Men’s Basketball Team and was a sports science adviser for the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Team. Mark has also owned and operated his own PT clinic, was a preceptor for the UAB School of Medicine in their Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, was inducted into the Madison County, Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame and is currently involved with the University of Alabama Huntsville Human Performance Lab. Mark has served on the USA Team Handball Foundation for several years. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
