(24 Nov 2018) EGYPT UNVEILS PHARAONIC TOMB FOUND IN LUXOR Egypt's Minister of Antiquities Khaled el-Anani said on Saturday (24 NOV. 2018) that archaeologists have discovered a new tomb from the pharaonic ages in Luxor. El-Anani told a news conference the site contained the mummies of a priest and his wife from the 13th century B.C., as well as decorative sarcophagi and a thousand statuettes. The tomb, which is on the West Bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings, also contained several colourful paintings of pharaonic royalty. Egypt has tried to whip up publicity for its new historical discoveries in the hopes of reviving a devastated tourism industry still recovering from the turmoil following the 2011 uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak.
