Along with the negative effects of heatwaves on people, like heat exhaustion leading to heatstrokes and even death, there are less well known consequences. In this video I examine a number of these, like near-surface elevated ozone levels that interfere with breathing and harm vegetation. People have less sex and sperm mobility is reduced, causing a large drop in births 9 months later. Crops wither and die, and since the outdoor temperatures approach ignition temperatures of vegetation, wildfires are much more likely.
