This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Managing the business side of a creative enterprise doesn't always come naturally to artists often tasked with balancing creativity with more practical, professional matters. Musician and start-up entrepreneur, Darren Gallop explores this theme and the part passion has to play in anchoring artists and creative types as they pave their way to business success.

Darren has 15+ years of experience in the music industry as a musician, audio engineer, and artist manager. He now serves as Commander and Chief of his tech startup Marcato Digital. Brian Watson, COO of Harbourside Institute of Technology, says “Darren has the ability to see the big picture while keeping track of the details; he’s a linchpin who can walk into chaos and create order – someone who can invent, connect, create, and make things happen.”

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
