Woman gives BIRTH 42,000 feet in the air on international flight

Musuamba Michoukayembe, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, went into labour an altitude three hours into a flight from the Gabonese capital, Libreville, to Turkey's biggest city Istanbul. The 21-year-old's husband, Kayoka Renemukadi, a doctor, and the cabin crew (pictured) immediately began preparing for the birth, isolating an area at the back of the Turkish Airlines plane. Ms Musuamba gave birth to a healthy baby boy, named Bennel (pictured and inset), some 42,650 feet (13,000 metres) above the Republic of Niger in north-western Africa.
