Members of Joint Task Force 630 and the Australian Air Component currently deployed on Operation Philippines Assist have been working beside Philippines Government Officials and the Philippines Army to aid in the evacuation of Internally Displaced People (IDP) from the Ormoc region. The Australian Air Force's Number 1 Airfield Operations Squadron (1AOSS) personnel are providing air terminal and air load services at the Ormoc airfield and have been assisting in the loading of hundreds of IDP into Australian and international military aircraft. The Philippines Army is coordinating the evacuations which are enabling people to get to areas where work and basic needs are more readily accessible such as Cebu or Manila.
