Ukraine banned Russia's entry for the 2017 Eurovision song contest, wheelchair-bound performer Yulia Samoylova, because of her 2015 travel to Russia-annexed Crimea. While some Russia authorities decried the ban as "discrimination against the disabled," critics say Moscow was using a disabled person for political purposes.
