Learners’ world knowledge can affect their language skills, both in negative and positive ways. In this Cambridge University Press webinar, Sabina shares practical ideas on how teachers might explore learners’ world knowledge to support their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Sabina is a doctoral candidate at Exeter University (UK), an English lecturer, and an ESL writer. She has taught English in Poland, Sweden, and the UAE to students of different ages and cultural backgrounds. She is the author of two coursebooks and one teacher’s book in the Cambridge University Press Unlock series. She has co-authored three teacher’s books in the English Unlimited Special Edition (CUP) series. She has written scenarios and activities for an immersive online course called learndirect English. Sabina has presented her TESOL research on developing students’ independent reading and listening skills, learner autonomy, and on using technology in the ESL classroom at international conferences in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Sabina currently lives and works in Spain.
