Farmer overcomes heart attack to carry Olympic Torch

Yorkshire farmer Frank Chislett tells how he fought back after a heart attack to carry the Olympic Torch through his home town of Halifax. Mr Chislett, 62, took part in the Olympic torch relay on Sunday (24 June) - despite a heart attack four years ago. He subsequently lost 3.5 stone and joined a local athletics club to stay fit. He has since run two marathons, raising money for charity. "Farming is a very isolated and insular vocation and if I can overcome life threatening obstacles having previously being a couch potato then anyone can," said Mr Chislett. "I see myself as a health ambassador for the industry." Originally nominated by the NFU, Mr Chislett was chosen as a torch bearer after his entry form was spotted by Tom Ransley, a member of the GB Rowing Team.
