I've been meaning to do a vid about this game!

If you played Net Yaroze back in the day and this looks familiar to you... that's because the game's creator, DemonStudios, is the same lone man that developed Gravitation! How's that for a comeback? You could call this an 'enhanced reboot' of the Net Yaroze classic.

This game actually speaks volumes to me. Back in the day when I was a kid, games in my household weren't too many - and I had none to call my own at the time. But the PS1 demos were great to me since they offered me various moments of entertainment to the point I'd oft repeat a demo several times. I'd never grow tired of just exploring a level, or going as fast as I could to finish it, or pretend there was a different story when the level was cleaned of all collectibles / enemies. Bu there was a specific PS1 demo that held my attention the most:

Euro Demo 42.

This demo had your usual game demos, but in the list there was something else... something different - the Net Yaroze Hall Of Fame - a small collection of homebrew games created with the Net Yaroze kit by different people, that were in a completed enough state to be playable AND enjoyable. This hall of fame wasn't just a memorable part of my childhood - it was a monument for everyone else, that any regular person could create their own games if they put in the effort. 15 homebrew games were in that hall of fame, all of them memorable... including the original Gravitation.

Many afternoons were spent doing races by myself, doing races with a friend, dogfighting with my cousins and brothers... if there was an argument, it would be settled by session upon session of Gravitation dogfighting... to the point the argument would be forgotten but the dogfighting continued. As I've grown, I've held onto all the Euro Demo discs, not just for nostalgia, but for the pure essence of fun that simple excerpts of games provided at the time, and for the timelessness that the Net Yaroze games in that demo disc.

So you can imagine I was absolutely ecstatic to find a few months ago that DemonStudios has remade Gravitation under a new name - Super Grav - and that it's getting a full release soon. A game I had a bond with years ago being recreated and released in the midst of this modern industry. Say what you will, but I feel like I'm a kid again just for being able to play this.

...I should get paid for advertising my childhood. :p
