NEW YORK: April 16th 2012 4-16-12. Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson hit back-to-back home runs off starter Carl Pavano Monday night, turning a 2-0 deficit into a 2-2 tie in the first inning of the New York Yankees' four-game series opener vs. the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium. Jeter's opposite-field shot marked his franchise-best 26th homer to lead off a game. Granderson's long ball to the right field second deck marked the first time this season Yankees hitters have gone yard back-to-back. About getting off to a terrific start in 2012, Jeter, speaking to Yahoo! Contributor Network following New York's 11-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, said, "It's a week, it's early. You have good weeks, you have bad weeks. I'm comfortable. Last year I wasn't comfortable. If you're comfortable, then the results will be there." Here's this for comfortable: Jeter entered Monday hitting .366 with two homers and six RBIs. His home run and RBI totals are now at three and seven, respectively. "I'm doing exactly what I did in the second half last year," said Jeter, who batted .331 (94-for-284) between July 4 and Sept. 28, 2011 after returning from a calf injury that sidelined him for three weeks. "It's really no difference. You just have to pick up where you left off."
