(12 Dec 2018) People in Strasbourg lit candles on Wednesday for the victims of a deadly shooting in the eastern French city. On Tuesday night a gunman opened fire at a Christmas market and killed two people, left a third brain-dead and injured 12. Student Tassia Konstantinidis said it was "important" to have a period of mourning and to remember the victims. A service was also held at Strasbourg's Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune Protestant church, where pastor Philippe Leber said it was a "day for us to think of those who died in this city because of violence". The alleged attacker, identified as 29-year-old Cherif Chekatt, is still at large.
