Music video for Tommy Kraft performing Waiting On A Miracle. (C) 2011 Tommy Kraft

Waiting On A Miracle is an original song that I wrote a few months back. My longtime friend and film maker Harrison Heller of Amorphous Blob Productions came to me and asked if he could do a music video of a very different variety: a machinima music video using Garry's Mod/Half-Life 2. The goal for this video was to tell three mini-stories over the span of 6 minutes solely through the visuals and the music. These mini-stories were inspired by the themes of the song and attempt to complement the song's melancholy tone.

An astronaut desperately searching for his wife on an alien world. An office drone suffering the pain of a crumbling marriage. A mother trying to cope with the aftermath of a tragic accident. They are all waiting on a miracle.

Lyrics:
When you're down and out
And wondering what it's all about
You just look right up to the clear blue
And wait to be told what to do

You feel there isn't anything to do
But wait for orders to come to you
So you live with your life
And just endure the strife

Because you're waiting on a miracle
You're just waiting on a miracle
You can tell yourself you're praying
But you are really decaying

Now you sit around with your pain
And all the while wondering it remains
You just can't understand why God allows
But you refuse to help yourself now

The preacher says give me just a little cash
And I will have God revive you from the ash
And you just hope that he's not telling a lie
Otherwise you might just die

Because you're waiting on a miracle
You're just waiting on a miracle
You can tell yourself you're praying
But you are really decaying

God isn't your quick fix
Love isn't your box of tricks
And then the pain comes rushing in
And you just bear it and grin

Because you're waiting on a miracle
You're just waiting on a miracle
You can tell yourself you're praying
But you are really decaying

Because you're waiting on a miracle
Waiting on a miracle
Waiting on a miracle

Tech Info:
I used the M-Audio Delta 1010lt PCI audio card in my desktop computer in conjunction with a Behringer Xenyx 2442fx mixing console and a MXL 550 condenser microphone for vocals with an MXL 551R condenser microphone on the guitar plus direct in from the guitar's pickup. I used Cubase 6 to record, mix, and master the song.
