My girlfriend and I went on a Sunday drive. We went to New Baden, IL to see if any trains were in the siding, but there weren't any trains sitting in the siding. When we crossed the tracks at the west end siding I noticed that the signal was red so that meant an eastbound was coming. We drove to the east end siding to wait for the train which was NS 223. The dispatcher told NS 223 told hold the main at New Baden to meet NS 224 which also had a BNSF leader. NS 224 goes in the hole to clear the main track so NS 223 can continue east to Shattuc to meet NS 71Z and NS 112. We got ahead of NS 223 at milepost 40 because I wanted to get it going track speed.
