Prosecutor: Strasbourg suspect took taxi ride

(12 Dec 2018) A taxi driver said a suspect in the Strasbourg shooting told him to drive him to his neighbourhood, a French prosecutor said on Wednesday. Prosecutor Remy Heitz said the taxi driver saw that the man had a handgun and that he had been wounded. He said the man told the taxi driver he had opened fire on military personnel in the town centre "and killed 10 people". Two people were killed in the shooting and another is understood to be brain dead. Twelve others were injured. Previously, French authorities had said the gunman killed three people. But Heitz said two people were confirmed dead while the third was brain dead. Heitz also said police found a grenade, a rifle and four knives during a search Tuesday morning of the 29-year-old's house. They had wanted to take him into custody in an investigation for suspected murder.
