Dervish Irish Like so much of traditional Irish music, the band Dervish has its roots in long-time friendships and informal musical gatherings known as sessions, or seisun. Having played together for over two decades, Dervish maintains that sense of musical camaraderie found across Ireland in the family home, the local pub, or the community dance. Asked to describe the essence of Dervish, mandolin player Brian McDonagh once noted, "We bring music from the session onto the stage," thus sharing a taste of Irish music at its most intimate and most intense with audiences across the world.
