Janis LaDouceur is an Architect, as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota's College of Design. Her design philosophy stems from clients' stories, and her buildings reflect the unique characteristics of the people she serves. The work of LaDouceur Architecture & Design is decidedly focused on the public, with a prestigious roster that includes The Science Museum of Minnesota's "Science House", a demonstration building that creates more energy than it uses annually; The Richard I. Bong WWII Heritage Center; three Hiawatha Line light-rail stations and the ambitious 56-story Minneapolis residential tower, The Nicollet. Janis has been the recipient of many awards, including the American Institute of Architects Young Architect Award and the National Energy & Environmental Building Association Award.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
