Yesterday, the winds were supposed to be reasonable so I headed out to reef #5. Well within 2 hours there was 25 MPH+ winds right out of the North and on my way back in, I got soaked so I didn't know if I should trust the 'calm winds' forecast today. Glad I headed out to the reef. In this video, you will hear me say I lost 4 big fish. It because Mustad hooks are NOTORIOUS for not closing the eye on their hooks and since I tie the my 50 lb braid directly onto my hook, if a big fish turns and heads back down and my line slips around inside the eye of the hook to where the eye is 'supposed' to firmly touch the shank of the hook and it doesn't, the fish gets off. When I examine the end of the line, the loop is still there but the hook is gone. Tonight I tied a bunch of leaders so hopefully, on my next fishing adventures, I won't lose any fish due to Mustad's poor manufacturing process.
