(Nigerian Movies) Hollywood is the undisputed king of the global film industry - but Nollywood films are fast catching up and it is now the third largest film industry in the world, after India's Bollywood... but who is the best?

"Nollywood" - says one young man - "because it is ours!"

"It's not comparable - Hollywood standard is at a very high peak," says another guy.

Despite being filmed and edited on small budgets, Nollywood films mostly focus on local Nigerian stories and plots that appeal to audiences across Africa, the Diaspora and even the Caribbean.

It is by far Africa's largest film industry and exploded onto the international market in the 1990s-2000's after the rise of cheaper cameras and editing suites brought production and distribution costs down.

And while America has the Oscars - Nigeria's own award ceremony - the Africa Movie Academy Awards is fast gaining international recognition.

Both Hollywood and Nollywood films are distributed in Nigeria through the cinema, television and on DVD/VCD.

Opinion on the streets of Lagos seems almost evenly divided between the two major industries:

"Nollywood! For no reason - I just like Nollywood!" says on guy.

"The standard will always be different now - Hollywood will always be Hollywood, and Nollywood will always be Nollywood!
