Santragachhi WAP4 powered 12703 Howrah Secunderabad Falaknuma Express cruises across the Mahanadi River prior to Cuttack in Orissa. The Mahanadi starts forming its delta at this point as she approaches her final destination: the Bay of Bengal. The river in this respect is gigantic: stretched out over 2 km though much of it is dry at this point due to the winter season. As we snake out of the Mahanadi Bridge, 12815 Puri New Delhi Superfast Express hauled by another bright red Santragachhi WAP4 curls into the Mahanadi bridge on the down line.
